About us
Following a need for a photography group in the northern corridor of Perth, The Aperture Group, fondly nicknamed TAG, was founded in July 2014 with just six members at Merriwa. Word got out and members steadily grew to be the amazing club TAG is today, many of the members still joining us and many have gone on to be award winning photographers.
The club’s original vision was for Community Involvement, Photographic knowledge sharing, and Friendship, and wow has TAG ticked all those boxes!
As a group we have photographed many local places together, including Burns Beach at sunset,
Mindarie Marina with fish and chips, lightning at Lake Joondalup, Sorrento Quay at night, and Parry’s Paddock with models. Smaller groups of friends made through TAG have organised their own photographic outings to many more places. Sharing knowledge between each other, exploring new places and having many laughs makes TAG a great club to join.
TAG has hosted many in house workshops covering genres such as portraiture, macro, flash, slow shutter speed, photoshop and more. We’ve had the pleasure of having several well-known photographers judge competitions or present a workshop for our members such as Seng Mah, Steve Wise, Dale Neill, Sue McLeod, Bob Litchfield, Lynn Gail and Mark Greenland.
Thanks to a Lotterywest grant, we have great studio lighting equipment for club use and the latest photography software for teaching skills and sharing photos. The Aperture Group has a great reputation for being a social and welcoming photography club. Why not come and join us to learn some photography skills, make some new friends and have a few laughs!
